Foxbury Wood was located in the London Borough of Bromley close to Romford. Near to the wood was Foxbury Manor, which was a Grade II listed building, and races were held in Foxbury Wood on Thursday 26th April 1838. The course was located 1 ½ miles from Romford and started at Paul Barn Mead, Foxbury Wood and headed towards Abridge, leaving Brick Kiln Farm House behind and heading on to Nook Hill Lane, a total circuit of 3 ½ miles. The opening Chase was won by Mr Watson’s Nigger, beating Cinderella and My Lad. The main event was won by Billy Cockade for Mr Elmore. After racing a dinner was held at the King’s Head. |
